The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association has developed an elite program that is exclusively designed for a selected number of juniors to participate in called the PLAYERS' TOUR. The PLAYERS' TOUR will consist of four different series of events and each series will have six events that the junior will be able to participate in. Plaques will be awarded to the 1st - 3rd place finishers at each event. In the event that a tie occurs, an on-the-course playoff will take place. The on-site administrator/host professional at the event will determine the method that will be used: playoff hole(s) or chip off/putt off. Juniors that are involved in the tie must be present to participate. Playoffs are conducted only to determine who will receive the plaques.
Juniors will also be eligible to earn points in the six events from the series that they participate in. The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Committee decided to award points to 1st through 20th place finishes for boys and 1st through 10th place finishes for girls at each event.* All juniors who finish in a tie will split the points. There will be EIGHT 2001 PLAYERS' TOUR Series Champions. Upon completion of the final event in each individual Series, one boy and one girl will be designated as Series Champion for his/her separate series.
NEW FOR 2001: Members of the Players' Tour will be allowed to play in events outside the series they are registered for. However, to maintain the integrity of each series, you MAY NOT earn points at an event outside of the series you are registered for. You will be eligible to win the plaque.
Juniors participating in the PLAYERS' TOUR will also be eligible to earn an invitation to play in the end of the year PLAYERS' TOUR event, the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions. This tournament will be a two-day, 36-hole event that will take place at Izaty's Golf & Yacht Club on August 15th & August 16th. Invitations will be extended to the top 18 Boys and 6 Girls* in each individual series, based upon their PLAYERS' TOUR Player of the Year Point Standings OR Juniors who have won an event in their individual series.
The PLAYERS' TOUR Player of the Year will be awarded to one boy and one girl following completion of play of the 2001 Tournament of Champions. Points at the Tournament of Champions will be awarded to the 1st through 30th place finishes in the boys division and 1st through 20th place finishes in the girls division. Reminder: Points will be split for ties at all Minnesota PGA PLAYERS' TOUR events and the Tournament of Champions. Any score posted as a With-Draw (WD) -(Without good reason), No-Show (NS) and No-Card (NC) will automatically make the junior ineligible for Player of the Year. Any junior disqualified (DQ) for cheating will also be ineligible for Player of the Year. (If a junior is not able to attend an event that they are scheduled to play in, they must call and notify the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Office, 763-754-6641. Failure to do this will result in suspension from the next event that they are scheduled to play in and will make the junior ineligible for Player of the Year.)
