Mission: The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association will provide playing opportunities for the TOP junior golfers in Minnesota and surrounding areas to compete directly against other golfers in ALL age categories. There will be 4 different series of events and each series will consist of six individual courses they will be guaranteed to play. These playing opportunities will promote competition and camaraderie. Sponsorship: The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association Players' Tour is sponsored by the Minnesota Section of the PGA, a non-profit corporation chartered in the state of Minnesota. All Junior Golf Association correspondence should be directed to the sponsor's corporate office: Minnesota Section PGA, 12800 Bunker Prairie Road, Coon Rapids, Minnesota, 55448. Telephone: (763) 754-6641. Eligibility: The Players' Tour is an invitational program in which eligibility requirements are determined by the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Committee. It is open to boys and girls ages 12 -19. Juniors who have reached their 19th birthday prior to September 1st, 2001 are eligible only if they have immediately finished their senior year of high school. Invitations were extended to the boys who had a scoring average of 83 or less and girls who had a scoring average of 95 or less in the 2000 Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association (**scoring averages based on the 2000 Players' Tour and Junior Tour Events). To Register: The number of players who can participate in the Players' Tour is limited. Registration and individual series will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. The official Players' Tour registration must be filled out completely and returned to the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association by MAIL ONLY. No fax or Walk-In applications will be accepted. Each of the four series will be limited to 80 junior golfers (64 Boys and 16 girls). Each junior golfer will be registered for ONLY ONE series. Series registration will not overlap (There are no pick and choose events). Registration fee will be $200.00. This will include your membership fee, the entry fee for the six courses in your individual series, a special Players' Tour package, and your entry fee into the Tournament of Champions at the end of the summer, should you qualify. NEW FOR 2001: Members of the Players' Tour will be allowed to play in events outside the series they are registered for. However, to maintain the integrity of each series, you MAY NOT earn points at an event outside of the series you are registered for. You will be eligible to win the plaque. Openings for the events will be filled from a wait list. You can call the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Office at (763) 754-6641 after January 15th to be put on the wait list for a particular event(s). Each event outside your designated series will cost $20.00. Cancellation Policy: Juniors who wish to cancel out of the Players' Tour may do so five (5) days prior to their first event their series. A refund will be made only if the office is contacted 5 business days prior to your first Players' Tour Series event. Any cancellations after the onset of your series will forfeit all rights to any refunds distributed by the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association. If a junior is not able to make it to an event due to a personal reason and it is less than five (5) business days prior to the event, you still need to call 763-754-6641 to cancel out of the event you are scheduled to play in. You need to do this even if it is the day of the event. If for some reason no one is available when you call, you must leave a message on the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association's voice mail service. Failure to do this will result in suspension from the next event you are registered for in your series. (There will be NO refunds distributed if a junior misses an event in his/her series.) No-Show Policy: If a junior in the Players' Tour no-shows at an event, he/she will be suspended from the next event in his/her series. A second no-show will result in the suspension from the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association and forfeiture of refunds. The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Association will contact the individuals who no-show to discuss the course of action to be taken. Competition All events are 18-Hole stroke play competition tournaments. Players will be paired into either a boys or girls division depending on their sex. USGA rules shall govern all play. Players may not use caddies or motorized carts. All players must either carry their own clubs or use a pull-cart. NO provisions have been made for practice rounds. On tournament days, practice is restricted to designated practice areas at the discretion of the host facility. Pace of play will be strictly enforced; participants playing 18 holes should complete their round in at least four and a half-hours after the start of play. ATTENTION: THERE WILL BE NO WALK-ONS AT ANY OF THE SERIES EVENTS. Each series will have a main roster of participants and those will be the only players allowed to participate in that series. No-Card/Withdraw Policy All participants must turn in their own scorecard. If you fail to do this, your score will be 20 strokes added to the highest score for the day. This will have a drastic effect on your scoring average. If you must withdraw (WD) from the event for personal reasons, you MUST contact the tournament administrator and explain your reason for withdrawing before you leave the facility. Failure to do this will result in a No-Card (NC). Conduct of Players: ANY misconduct of players, such as cheating, throwing clubs, smoking, swearing, littering, failure to rake bunkers, replace divots, repair ball marks on greens, or other displays of inappropriate behavior will result in immediate disqualification. A player may not seek or accept advice from anyone while competing on the course. "On the Course" is interpreted as from the time the player tees off on his or her starting hole until after he or she holes out on the last hole. Players must wear a collared shirt, Bermuda shorts or slacks, shoes, and socks. T-Shirts, short shorts, and blue jeans will not be acceptable. Players not conforming to the dress code will be asked to change or leave. Golf shoes are suggested. Conduct of Parents: Parents are encouraged to attend the tournaments and may follow their junior around the golf course, but are NOT allowed to walk with, talk with, or give advice to any golfers during play. During play spectators must maintain a reasonable distance from all players (approximately 25 yards is considered minimum). Host courses reserve the right to alter this policy if necessary. In addition, parents are expected to follow the rules and etiquette of golf while on the course with their child. Any parent not conforming to these rules and etiquette of golf may be asked to leave. Prizes: At the completion of play, plaques will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. In the event of a tie, a playoff method will be determined by the tournament administrator (if possible, an on-course playoff will take place, either playoff holes or a chip-off/putt-off. In the event that the course is not available, a scorecard playoff will be used beginning with the #1 handicap hole). | ||
